We specialise in natural hair regrowth treatments to reverse the effects of male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia). Our medical hair loss treatments can also help to expedite recovery from temporary hair loss causes (excessive hairstyling, certain medications, thyroid disease and pregnancy).
As we age, the quality of hair follicles declines. In some patients this decline can happen earlier in life or at a faster rate resulting in thinning hair, slow regrowth and baldness. Our medical-led team can effectively treat areas that are showing signs of reduced hair thickness, length and strength (typically the crown and frontal areas).
We collect natural growth factors, proteins and cytokines (derived from a small sample of your blood) and inject the concentrated solution into the parts of the scalp experiencing hair thinning. Typically, 10 treatments are recommended to trigger and maintain a growth cascade, however this number is advised during your complimentary initial consultation.
A growth cascade occurs within the level of the dermis, a layer of skin where the hair follicle (the root of the hair) originates. Within weeks, you will notice an observable difference in hair thickness and reduction in the number of hairs lost per day. Within months, an increase in the number of hair follicles per area will improve, in addition to quality of hair grown.
Our hair loss treatments are minimally invasive. No recovery is required after treatment
The ideal candidate for our hair regrowth treatment is in the early stages of hair loss.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is nutrient rich serum obtained from your own blood. For over 20 years PRP has been used successfully to manage and improve healing from sporting injuries. Over the last decade PRP’s use has been successfully expanded to include hair loss and anti-aging for the face. PRP is regarded as a regenerative medical procedure and is completely autologous (we only use the nutrients isolated from your own blood). It is a simple procedure that involves 4 steps:
Take a small volume sample of blood, (15-30mls)
Applying topical numbing cream to the area you want treated
Blood is placed in centrifuge calibrated to spin the blood at the exact speed necessary to isolate the platelets and plasma from the red blood cells and white blood cells. The end result is 4-6 mls of platelet rich plasma (PRP).
The PRP is carefully injected into the treatment area
PRP is a non surgical, non pharmaceutical option for those wanting to manage the effects that aging has on their skin or hair without painful downtime or the inconvenience of taking a daily medication. PRP treatment is delivered as packages, these packages are based on current research as to the number of sessions necessary to achieve optimal results. For skin, our packages contain 4 sessions each session is 4-6 weeks apart depending on your schedule. For hair, we provide packages of 10 sessions delivered over a 12 month period, minimum time between each session is 2 weeks, maximal time is 6 weeks. During your initial consultation, we will determine the optimal time to deliver treatment based on your schedule and the results you are aiming for.
Over the last decade PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) has been used successfully in Europe and America to reverse the effects of male pattern baldness, female pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia) and also expedite recovery from temporary hair loss causes (excessive hairstyling, certain medications, thyroid disease and pregnancy).
Essentially, as we age the quality of hair follicles that we have declines, however in some patients this decline can happen earlier in life or at a faster rate resulting in thinning hair, slow regrowth and baldness. In areas that are showing signs of reduced hair thickness as well as the length and strength (typically crown and frontal areas). PRP is taken from the patient and is injected over the course of a number of sessions (typically 10, however this number is advised in your initial free consultation with our doctor) to trigger and maintain a growth cascade. The growth cascade occurs within the level of the dermis, a layer of the skin where the hair follicle (the root of the hair) originates; within weeks, an observable difference in hair thickness and reduction in the number of hairs lost per day occurs. Within months, an increase in the number of hair follicles per area improves in addition to the quality of hair grown.
‘Alopecia’ is the medical term to describe hair loss in areas where hair would normally grow. There are different types of Alopecia however it is Androgenetic Alopecia that is the most common cause of thinning hair/ baldness in both men and women.
Androgenetic Alopecia, also known as male pattern hair loss, is the most common form of hair loss accounting for over 90% of cases of hair loss in men.
Female pattern hair loss (FPHL) is a distinctive form of hair loss that occurs in women with androgenetic alopecia. It is similar to male pattern hair loss in appearance. Onset occurs at around 35 years of age, up to 40% of women will have signs of female pattern hair loss by the time they are 50 years.
As the name suggests, Androgenetic Alopecia involves the action of androgens (male sex hormones), specifically DHT. Individuals with pattern hair loss have an increased affinity to DHT. DHT binds onto susceptible hair follicles, causing them to shrink. Shrinkage of the hair follicles has two effects, firstly, smaller hair follicles a more likely to fall out as they aren’t as strongly anchored to the dermal layer, secondly, uptake of the necessary nutrients for the hair follicle growth cycle is reduced, hence hair growth rate is slowed. Eventually the balance of hair growth to hair loss enters a state where hair loss dominates.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) has become a popular and effective hair loss treatment as it is a quick and minimally invasive procedure which means there is absolutely no down time following treatment, you are able to return to work and drive safely immediately afterwards.
There are no activity restrictions after PRP treatments. Patients are able to wash and shampoo their hair within hours of receiving treatment, additionally there is no restriction on physical activity.
Possible symptoms that may be experienced following the procedure include mild inflammation (skin can appear flushed) and a numbing of the scalp. These symptoms resolve completely within 12 to 24 hours. You may continue taking any prescribed medicines or applying any creams.
We recommend that you should avoid any application of harsh chemicals to the scalp including colouring, perming, head lice treatments, and bleaching for 72 hours post treatment.
You will notice visible changes typically within 4-8 weeks of beginning treatments.
For optimal results we recommend a treatment package of ten PRP treatments for hair loss. This package is delivered over 12 months, the specific timing of treatments will be tailored to the results you are wanting to achieve and your schedule. The minimum time between each session is 2 weeks, maximum is 6 weeks. With these treatment packages we expect the following response to occur:
2-4 weeks: reduction in the number of hairs you are losing per day, a visible improvement in hair thickness.
1 month – 6 months: daily hair loss continues to improve, quality of hair improves (strength and length), number of active follicles should also increase. We will measure your response using a TrichoScan, a high power magnifying glass that we utilise to assess your individual response to the PRP treatment and predict your ongoing response. We will aim to complete to complete 6-8 treatments within the first 6 months.
6-12 months: Maximum treatment response occurs. The timing of the remaining 2-4 treatments will be determined by your response to treatment during the first 6 months.
Elucell offer PRP hair loss treatment packages to maintain your new hair and continue its growth.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) hair loss treatment results are different for everyone. We recommend all patients who have been assessed by our friendly and experienced doctors and nurses go through an “induction period” of PRP hair loss treatments. The induction period is typically 6 months long (depending on the patient). During this induction period, it is important that the PRP is being delivered to the affected sites regularly for optimum results.
Following the 6 months of your induction PRP hair loss treatment, we will review your progress and measure the changes of your hair growth using a Trichoscan (high powered magnifying glass that allows us to see the number of hair follicles per area and assess the quality of hair).
When assessing your results at this point, if the desired effect is achieved, you will progress onto a “maintenance period” for your PRP hair loss injections. As you continue on this maintenance period, we will gradually increase the time between visits. Between 12-18 months since treatment initiation, treatment revisions will only be necessary once or twice a year (depending on your own individual circumstances).
After completing the packages for either skin or hair, the results will last for 12-18 months following your last treatment. To ensure that you maintain the results you have achieved, we recommend a PRP top up every 12 months.
